Volunteer Spotlight

Our volunteer in the spotlight this week is Ken Kasten!

Ken began attending The Point in 2007, and says he has a passion for Jesus and being around people!!!  When we asked Ken "Why The Point" he replied- "I choose The Point because it feels like home and the people are family to me!"

Ken is a bit different from our normal spotlight, you see he is a part of The Giving Point Ministry where he has served faithfully and incredibly for quite some time. However, last year Ken was thrown a curveball that has kept him from doing what he loves which is serving people! Last year Ken was diagnosed with cancer - although this has kept him from many things he is excited that after 16 months of this battle he is eager to get back to serving God by serving the community. We asked him what he LOVES about his area of ministry and he had this to say- "I LOVE being able to help those in need!" The Director of The Giving Point Tom King says- "Ken is a rock-solid guy! He is always willing to help whenever wherever and however he can. Before we had a truck for all our pick-ups throughout the week Ken would use his car and hook the trailer up going from location to location to help get food for those in need. He serves with compassion and a love for people always looking out to make sure everyone is being taken care of. I honestly can't say enough about Ken he is a ROCK STAR and we can't wait to have him back!" Ken is such a blessing to all he comes in contact with, he has a heart and passion to serve God by serving others in this community and pours all he has into doing just that!  A few fun facts about Ken is he loves camping and driving and he does NOT and will NOT absolutely positively ever eat ANY cooked vegetables.

Thank you so much, Ken, for your dedication, commitment, and for using your gifts, talents, and abilities at The Point and especially with our community! You are such a blessing to so many here at The Point Church, and we are very blessed to have you as a part of our family.

God has given you something special — whether it's talent, education, opportunities, ideas, creativity — and he wants you to use it. But how? What do you do with what you've been given? In this series, The Foundation of a Life Well-Lived, we will explore the question, "What does God want me to do with my life?" Because living a meaningful, purpose-driven life comes from knowing why you're here and knowing where you're going. Join us THIS Sunday in-person or online ( at 10am.

Here at The Point, we love our teachers! Especially the people that dedicate time to help your children learn and grow in their relationship with Jesus, our very own Aim Staff! One of the ways that we want to show our teachers love is by asking your kids to make cards for their teachers and bring them into their class on Sunday, March 2nd. You can create a card for all of the teachers, or you can individually write out cards to each teacher. Here is a list of all of the teachers and their classrooms:

* Nursery: Mindy, Cassandra, Alli

* Preschool: Whitney, Franklin, Savannah

* K-4: Jonathon, Val, Avrie, Eric, Diane, Caity

* 5th-6th: Mike and Maria

Thank you for celebrating our teachers with us! If you have any questions or if you are interested in becoming a teacher you can email for more info!

Any grading 8th grader-graduating 12th grader is welcome! June 22-25 overnight in Zion, IL. Our youth group will be joining with three other groups in the area to clean up our community by helping elderly and disabled people with yard cleaning, light construction, outdoor painting, as well as cleaning up our community parks and nature walks! We will feed and house your students overnight at the Bridge Youth Center in Zion, IL (previously known as Beach Bible Church, across the street from Zion Benton Township High School).
